chad clark & matt watson
Here’s the idea—it’s been 30 years since we graduated high school, just about 30 years since Matt passed away and around 37 years since Chad passed. They were our loved friends and classmates, and their families are still around. I keep up with Matt’s family, and several years ago called the Clarks to say hi, update them about my life, and fill them in on other Hoover classmates’ lives. I think they really appreciated it.
In honor of our 30th reunion, I thought it would be fun if a bunch of us gave them those updates now. I think it would mean a lot for them to be remembered in this way. I don’t know about you guys, but I still think about Chad and Matt a lot.
Fill out the form, and hit submit, then donate if you would like. All the submissions will go to my email and I’ll collect them and make sure the families get them. All the donations will automatically go to the right place.
Maybe you only knew Matt from junior high or high school and never met Chad—just fill out a message to the Watsons. I’ll get them all sorted and out to the right family.
The Clarks live in the Seattle area. John Watson is in Virginia, moving back to Iowa City soon. Susanne Watson-Epting is in Colorado.

memorial journalism scholarship
Please consider donating to the Matthew Watson Memorial Journalism Scholarship. The family has told me that it could use a boost, and I would love to see it continue forever. It’s a $500 scholarship that goes to a senior who worked on the Little Hawk newspaper, demonstrated leadership, and excelled in his or her journalistic efforts. It’s a great way to keep our friend’s legacy alive.
In the ‘Gift Narrative/Notes About my Gift’ section, be sure to put, “for the Matthew Watson Memorial Journalism Scholarship”
